2024 Recommendations

Continue to encourage more collaboration between the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life (previously the Office of Greek Life), Recovery and Intervention Support and Education (RISE) Center, and Counseling and Testing Services (CTS) so that there is more proactive programming in connection to alcohol and substance use among Greek and Student Organizations.

Educate the campus community on marijuana policies at the federal, state, and local levels, and prevention strategies, targeting high risk student populations.

Utilize third party educational modules to provide educational resources for high-risk student groups and/or organizations.

Incorporate substance use education into bystander intervention programming to increase awareness and intervention behaviors among the UNT community.

Increase participation in prescription drug educational programming provided to the UNT community. This will include Narcan trainings and other prescription drug awareness events, like national Take Back Day

Increased partnership between Fraternity and Sorority Life, Recovery and Intervention Support and Education (RISE), and Counseling and testing Center (CTS) has occurred.

Work with the Division of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access to incorporate alcohol and substance use language within the discussion of voluntary consent on campus.
The Division of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access was dissolved in 2023 in order to maintain compliance with Texas Senate Bill 17 - Prohibition of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Activities.

Partner with UNT Police Department to develop a prescription drug misuse and/or fentanyl awareness media campaign.
A fentanyl awareness campaign was introduced to the UNT community. Prescription drug education will continue for the UNT population.

Educational events and training included information regarding changes to marijuana legislation and prevention strategies. Additional changes to laws related to marijuana occurred throughout the past 2 years. Ongoing and continued education is needed as these laws evolve.
